YOUTH THEATRE

Program Synopsis:

Youth Theatre gives young people the opportunity to experience live theatre in an intense fun environment where everyone shares the same goal - to perform live in costume where everyone has a meaningful role with dialogue.

In essence, students audition, rehearse and perform a fully costumed play or musical play off by heart in either 4 or 5 days. During the process of auditioning, rehearsing, and performing, students extend their knowledge and experience in many areas ... exploring text, developing a character, using the actors voice to deliver the written word in a convincing manner, understanding the importance of movement on stage, stagecraft, and theatre etiquette. The process of working as an individual in a group environment also encourages an appreciation for each others differences, responsibility for self, and respect for the group.

Youth Theatre is NOT a holiday care program, it is serious theatre for those that are keen to learn and be on stage.

Plays and musical plays are written so that every student receives a meaningful role with dialogue.  Roles are designed so that those with more confidence and experience can be extended, while those less confident can be nurtured.
