PERFORMANCE DANCER

Program Synopsis:

Performance Dance is designed for students that love to dance and perform but don’t want the stress and rigors of doing dance exams. Curriculum consists of warm-up exercises that teach safe body use and positive body awareness, technical dance components that incorporate elements of Modern, Broadway, Jazz  & Hip Hop, and choreographed routines that improve coordination, body-alignment, stamina, flexibility, rhythm and musicality.

Program Streams

ACT II

ACT II Performance Dance is for students generally aged 6 to 8 years with little or no dancing experience. Curriculum covers basic movement and dance steps that help with coordination, rhythm, counting and the enjoyment of putting those steps into a choreographed dance routine.

Dance music is carefully chosen so it is age appropriate, explores different interesting genres, and reflects the current music interests of students.

Students perform in 2 parent presents each year and a fully costumed gala performance.

ACT III

ACT III Performance Dance is for students generally aged 9 to 12 years with some dancing experience and a passion for performing.

Curriculum covers the importance of quality warm-ups and warm-downs, positive body image, performance skills, stage craft, and the basic elements required to audition for or dance in most high school musical theatre productions.

Dance music is carefully chosen so it is age appropriate, explores different interesting genres, and reflects the current music interests of
students. Students perform in 2 parent presents each year and a fully costumed gala performance.
