PERFORMANCE ACTOR (STAGE)
Program Synopsis:
Performance Acting classes nurture, challenge and empower students to meet their creative and dramatic potential while developing confident communication, presentation & performance skills. Curriculum covers improvisation skills, the actor’s voice, characterization, script analysis, movement & mime, stagecraft, the audition & rehearsal process, theatre etiquette and public speaking skills.
Program Streams
ACT II
ACT II curriculum is written for children generally aged 6-8 years. This enrichment program not only helps develop acting, performance and communication skills, it extends language & reading skills, improves speaking in clear expressive English, improves co-ordination, encourages creativity, and enhances socialization and interpersonal skills.
In keeping with Acting Antics philosophy of "Self Discovery Through Performance", students audition for and perform in two plays a year. The first is specific to that group of students and may include a radio play play or a standard "blocked" play, the second is a gala performance involving all students at that venue. In an Acting Antics play or gala performance every acting student receives a meaningful role with dialogue.
ACT III
ACT III curriculum is written for children generally aged 9-12 years. Curriculum covers improvisation skills, the actor’s voice, characterization, movement & mime, stagecraft skills and theatre etiquette. Script work also extends language & reading skills and
improves speaking in clear expressive English while rehearsal and performance work enhances socialization and interpersonal skills.
Acting Antics ethos is "Self Discovery Through Performance". to that end all students audition for and perform in two plays a year. In the gala performance the ACT III students take the leading roles while the ACT II students take the smaller roles. Acting Antics plays are written to fully extend older more experienced students while nurturing younger or lesser experienced students and are renowned for offering every acting student a meaningful role with dialogue.
ADVANCED
The ADVANCED program is an advanced performance group for young people who are passionate about performing and whom show talent, potential and dedication.
During the year students put the skills they are learning into practice by performing in Skits & Sketches, Radio Theatre, Theatre Jump and of course a fully costumed play where every student gets a meaningful role with dialogue.
The ability to multi-task under pressure is an integral part of an actors training, as they have to remain focused and in character no matter what happens during a performance. They must remember lines, remember moves, communicate with the audience and keep every performance fresh and spontaneous. To master these skills is to have some critical life skills at one’s fingertips.
THEATRE JUMP
THEATRE JUMP is a unique program designed by Acting Antics to introduce young people to the wonderful world of improvisation
while teaching basic acting and life skills.
THEATRE JUMP encourages spontaneity, creativity, and dramatic expression, while improving listening skills, vocal expression, physicality, confidence, and respect for the individual and the group as a whole.
